Students enrolled in the online training program will spend 75 hours learning various techniques and practices, including Asana, Pranayama, and meditation.
The 30-hour anatomy and physiology portion of the program covers the main body systems, as well as types of joint movements, balance, stretching, physical limitations, contraindications, and more.
The curriculum also includes 40 hours of yoga humanities, which highlights the history, philosophy, and ethics of the practice.
The final 55 hours of the program are dedicated to professional essentials, which include teaching methodology, professional development, electives, and a group practicum.
The Hawaii Yoga Institute welcomes students and faculty members of every race, class, gender, size, physical ability, and spiritual faith.
Admission and certification requirements include competency in the English language, the ability to contribute to a safe and cohesive learning environment, prior personal experience studying with any yoga teacher or therapist, as well as physical, mental, and emotional preparedness.
Applicants are also required to participate in a 20-minute phone interview.
The Hawaii Yoga Institute’s next online teacher training takes place on evenings and weekends from July 10th to September 5th, 2021. The program is approved to accept benefits and scholarships from MyCAA and the GI Bill.
