WILMINGTON, Del. - Sept. 12, 2018 - PRLog -- Ultius is proud to announce Shannon Munn as the winner of the SEED Scholarship. The SEED Scholarship is the first scholarship ever awarded by Ultius. The scholarship is designed to help an underprivileged student pay for their higher education. The SEED Scholarship is in line with the technology company's commitment to eliminating student loan debt (a part of the company's social mission).
Applications for the SEED Scholarship opened May 1 through July 31, 2018. Many applications were reviewed until eight semi-finalists were chosen. Those semi-finalists were narrowed down to four, two, and a winner was selected.
Pepperdine University student, Shannon Munn, was selected as the winner of the SEED Scholarship. Munn's essay was chosen as the winner due to not only its impeccable grammar, but also for its emotive prose. In her essay, Shannon recounts growing up with her brother and being raised by a disabled mother with limited resources.
Her limited resources did not stop her from giving back to the community; as a Girl Scout, she won multiple awards in leadership for her volunteer work. Today, Shannon hopes to become an Environmental Engineer to help restore and improve the urban infrastructure in the United States.
"The SEED Scholarship affords me the opportunity to attend college and learn more about environmental issues and solutions," said Shannon, "As a student raised by a disabled mother with very limited resources, I'm thankful for such a wonderful scholarship."
Thanks to the success of the first ever SEED Scholarship, Ultius has decided to not only make it an annual tradition, but also to launch other scholarships to help the diverse population of students in America.
