Cox Communications Brings New Connectivity to Lincoln Military Housing

By: PRLog
Cox Communications is now offering internet, cable and phone service to Lincoln Military Housing’s Chesapeake Virginia communities.
PRLog - Jul. 10, 2014 - CHESAPEAKE, Va. -- The long awaited internet, cable and phone service from Cox Communications is finally available to all Lincoln Military Housing (LMH) residents in the Chesapeake, Virginia area.  Just over a year ago MediaCom, stopped service to the area resulting in connectivity issues and several service interruptions for LMH residents. LMH a Public Private Venture (PPV) provides quality housing for military families across the nation while creating an exceptional home environment through free community activities and amenities.

Angela St. Clair, the LMH District Manager at Northwest Annex, understands the unique needs of her residents and has continued to push for a better provider to enter the area. “The internet is critical when service members are deployed.”, Angela stated, “This is a major form of communication for the spouses during deployments.”

MediaCom stopped service in March of 2013 because their phone platform was moving to a voice over Internet protocol and it was not in their plans to invest in the infrastructure in the Northwest area.  This meant all future LMH residents would not have 911 service, as they would only grandfather in prior customers. Cox teamed up with LMH to perform an engineering study and agreed to invest in bringing these new services to the Northwest market.

To celebrate the new technology Cox invited Angela St. Clair, LMH District Manager at Northwest Annex; CAPT Jake Johansson, Commanding Officer of NSA HR; Elizabeth Rolling, Manager for MDU Sales, Cox Communications; and Pete Tortolini, Account Executive for MDU Sales, Cox Communications to a ribbon cutting ceremony at Northwest, an LMH community located in the Chesapeake.

In addition to those cutting the ribbon, a crowd of 60 people including several other LMH employees and residents were in attendance to share food and celebrate the new technology that will bring them closer to their loved ones abroad.

About Lincoln Military Housing

Lincoln Military Housing (LMH) was formed in 2001 through a Department of Defense (DOD) contract with parent company Lincoln Property Company. The goal has always been to increase the quality of military housing for the nation’s servicemen and women.  Since its inception more than a decade ago, Lincoln Military Housing now provides more than 31,000 family homes for military members across the United States.  Lincoln is much more than a property management company. LMH acts as a support system for military families and offers community-building activities and 24-hour maintenance assistance programs, free, to all of their residents.  Services are available for members of all branches of service - Marine Corps, Army, Navy, Air Force, United States Coast Guard, and National Guard.
