AMES' Growth Spurred by New Heavy Maintenance Contracts with Omni Air International for B767-300

Airborne Maintenance & Engineering Services (AMES) announced the award of heavy maintenance contracts with Omni Air International (OAI) for two Boeing 767-300 aircraft heavy maintenance visits. Omni selected AMES to accomplish extensive interior rework in conjunction with maintenance checks and engine pylon modifications.

Omni recently added another B767-300 to their fleet and was seeking a maintenance provider with timely and cost-effective services. “AMES was an excellent fit due to their expertise with the B767,” said Marvin Preble, Director of Heavy Maintenance for Omni. “It’s important that we place aircraft in service as quickly and economically as possible. AMES offered great value and was very responsive to our needs.”

AMES President Brady Templeton noted the significance of the Omni contracts: “We are very pleased to add Omni to a growing list of carriers that have discovered the value and quality we offer. We tailored our solution to fit Omni’s schedule and needs. Our customers expect and deserve that kind of flexibility and responsiveness.”

The improving market in commercial maintenance is benefiting AMES. The Omni work includes the complete removal, rework, and reinstallation of the passenger interior. AMES has been traditionally known for aircraft maintenance to cargo operators but has continued to pursue and expand its capabilities on aircraft with passenger configurations. The Omni work will be accomplished at the Wilmington Air Park beginning in December 2010 and continuing through the first quarter of 2011.

“Opportunities like Omni are fueling our growth,” Templeton added. “We’re seeing an increase in airline maintenance activity across many lines of our business. We are looking forward to the challenges ahead as we build to maximize our hangar capacity and expand our work force. We’re facing a great opportunity, and we are busy planning for growth and expansion.”
