Economic Reports Boost Stocks

Stocks continued their charge higher as additional earnings and positive economic news added confidence to the session. Market breadth was mixed. On the New York Stock Exchange, winners topped losers three to two on volume of 710 million shares. A positive assessment of the economy from the Federal Reserve helped stocks hold onto modest gains.
