Free Electrical Workshop Hosted by Sherwin Electrical

Electrical Systems Workshop in Powell, Ohio
Powell, Ohio -
Sherwin Electrical is proud to announce a free two-day electrical workshop aimed at helping those interested in entering the electrical trade. The workshop was designed to provide participants with the hands-on and practical experience they need to get up and running as a service electrician within a three-to-six-month time frame.

The first-ever free workshop was held on Tuesday, November 7th, and Thursday, November 9th from 7 pm - 9 pm at 185 S. Liberty St. Powell. Sherwin Electrical provided attendees with all the necessary materials and tools needed to participate in the workshop.

The workshop started with a ‘Show and Tell’, which included teaching many of the common electrical devices and components within the household. Understanding household electrical devices is the perfect place for beginner electricians to start, as this not only empowers them to handle minor electrical issues but also promotes overall safety by helping them identify potential hazards before they become serious problems.

After the 'Show and Tell' section, there was a comprehensive question-and-answer session. This interactive dialogue offered attendees the opportunity to clarify any technical queries they had about electrical systems or even broader questions about the electrical trade itself. The Sherwin Electrical experts were on hand to provide detailed answers, demystify complex concepts, and offer a deeper insight into the electrical industry.

The second part of the workshop provided a hands-on experience, where participants had the opportunity to work on an actual electrical system. The task involved adding new devices to an existing circuit using the industry’s best practices. After the work was completed, the circuit was tested by connecting it to live power.

According to workshop host and Sherwin Electric owner, Dan Sherwin, “I realized that the entry-level opportunities for someone wanting to enter the trade are limited. I decided to develop a ‘hybrid’ program to provide them with enough hands-on and practical experience that they can have the chance to get up and running as a service electrician.”

This free workshop offering is meant to be an introduction to a more robust and lengthy training program and provides a unique opportunity to spark a beginner electrician's career in the electrical trade. The electrical industry is currently experiencing a demand-supply gap, with a significant number of professionals on the verge of retirement. This impending workforce shortfall presents a multitude of opportunities for new entrants in the field. With the constant advancements in technology and an ever-increasing reliance on electrical systems, the industry promises a wealth of possibilities for growth and advancement. For those considering a career path in this sector, now is an opportune moment. Not only will they contribute to an essential industry, but they will also secure a future with substantial potential for professional development.
