Seasoned Executive Has More Than Three Decades of Operating, Leadership, and Board Experience Spanning Multi-Unit, Franchise, and Consumer-Services Businesses
Further Underscores Maple Park’s Commitment to Establishing a Deep Bench of Operating Advisors Following Jason Kidd’s Appointment to the Firm
Maple Park Capital Partners (“Maple Park”), a private equity firm partnering with exceptional founders and operators to build enduring businesses across the experience-driven services economy, today announced that Steve Wiborg, Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of Ampler Holdings and Director at Maple Park portfolio company Rita’s Italian Ice, has joined the firm as an Operating Advisor. Mr. Wiborg’s appointment follows Maple Park’s appointment of Jason Kidd as an Operating Advisor to the firm last month.
A seasoned executive with more than three decades of operating, leadership, and board experience, Mr. Wiborg brings a unique skillset to Maple Park gained through his time serving in senior roles at multi-unit, franchise, and consumer-services businesses. As an Operating Advisor, Mr. Wiborg will work closely with Maple Park’s investment team to execute value-creation initiatives, leadership development, and scalable operating infrastructure across the firm’s portfolio.
“Steve is one of the most accomplished multi-unit operators in the consumer and franchise landscape and embodies the type of operator with whom we seek to partner. Having scaled complex businesses and navigated periods of transformation, he knows what it takes to build enduring platforms,” said Alexander Blankfein, Co-Founder of Maple Park.
“Steve has a rare combination of strategic leadership and hands-on operating experience, ranging from the boardroom to the unit level. He will be an active partner to our portfolio company leaders and we are thrilled to formally welcome him to Maple Park,” added Andrew Lauck, Co-Founder of Maple Park.
“What drew me to Maple Park is the firm’s emphasis on working shoulder-to-shoulder with management, not just advising from the sidelines,” concluded Mr. Wiborg. “I have known Alex and Andrew for many years, and their focus on founder partnership, operational rigor, and experiential services aligns closely with my background and passion for building great businesses.”
As Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of Ampler Holdings, Mr. Wiborg has scaled Ampler to over 450 units across four different brands. Previously, he served as Chairman, Executive Vice President, and President of North America for Burger King Corporation following its acquisition by 3G Capital. During his tenure there, Mr. Wiborg played a central role in defining and executing Burger King’s highly successful turnaround strategy, including its public listing. Before that, Mr. Wiborg served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Heartland Food Corporation, having earlier served as the company’s Chief Operating Officer. Earlier, he was an owner-operator of 56 Hardee’s restaurants, providing him with deep, first-hand experience in unit-level operations. Mr. Wiborg has also previously served as a director of Carrols Restaurant Group.
