Travelers Institute® to Host Cybersecurity Symposium in Portland, Oregon

The Travelers Institute, the public policy division of The Travelers Companies, Inc. (NYSE: TRV), will host its in-person Cyber: Prepare, Prevent, Mitigate, Restore® symposium Monday, April 17, in Portland. The sold-out event, which is part of a national series, promotes dialogue and education around helping businesses prepare for, and respond to, cyber incidents.

“We have worked with thousands of organizations across the country through this series, and our partners have made it clear that they need more guidance on how to protect themselves from cyber threats,” said Joan Woodward, President of the Travelers Institute and Executive Vice President of Public Policy at Travelers. “In a recent Travelers survey, just 27% of Portland-area leaders said they understood enough about cyber to keep their customers and businesses safe. With this in mind, we are looking forward to sharing these valuable resources with local agents, brokers and the broader business community.”

The event, which will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. PST at the Multnomah Athletic Club, will feature opening remarks from Martin Golden, District Director of the Portland District Office for the U.S. Small Business Administration. Theresa Masse, Cybersecurity State Coordinator and Advisor, Region 10 at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), and Thomas Wilder, Protective Security Advisor, Region 10 at CISA, will provide a keynote address.

The event will close with a panel moderated by Woodward that will include Masse, as well as Tim Francis, Vice President, Enterprise Cyber Lead at Travelers, and Jennifer Coughlin, Partner at Mullen Coughlin.

“Now more than ever, cybersecurity and physical security go hand in hand,” said Wilder. “CISA recognizes this convergence, and we strive to help businesses find ways to reduce their cyber and physical risks while also retaining the ability to serve their customers.”

“Each day, small business owners throughout the country dedicate themselves to serve as resources for their communities, which is why it is critical that they protect themselves from cyber threats,” said Golden. “There are a number of organizations that are dedicated to protecting businesses, and the U.S. Small Business Administration is proud to be counted among those partners.”
