Beginning in Venezuela, some of Ms. Estevez-Losada's earliest roles were as a coordinator of national housing construction at Fundación Misión Hábitat and as construction manager at Instituto de Ferrocarriles del Estado. She also served as the Aragua state director for the Instituto Nacional de la Vivienda, president of the Instituto Municipal de la Vivienda del Municipio Girardot and president of Fundas. In these many roles, she worked to develop housing and infrastructure and oversaw urban development projects.
Ms. Estevez-Losada's expertise prepared her for work as a director for Tecnitel, where she oversaw complicated telecommunications projects from 2011 to 2018. Beginning at KMI International in 2018 as an estimating associate, Ms. Estevez-Losada quickly advanced through the roles of project engineer, project manager and senior construction consultant before becoming the director of program management to oversee large-scale projects conducted by multidisciplinary teams.
Now, as the director of asset management for Equity LifeStyle Properties Inc., Ms. Estevez-Losada optimizes a portfolio of properties that span the nation. She also leads her own professional coaching firm, Julia Estevez LLC, where she helps skilled professionals advance their careers and make the most of their opportunities to build a better world around them.
Leadership that Creates Opportunities
In 2025, Ms. Estévez Losada published her first book, "Matanga: El arte de vencer el miedo y transformar tu vida," a transformational guide that blends her experience as an engineer, executive, immigrant and certified results coach. The book provides practical strategies to overcome fear, align purpose with action, and develop a mindset of resilience. "Matanga" was officially launched at the Bogotá International Book Fair (FILBo 2025) and is available globally on Amazon.
A nominee for the Remarkable Women in Construction award from the National Association of Women in Construction, Ms. Estevez-Losada has also earned the Excellence Award from Cerem GBS for her professional achievements. Likewise, she received the Diana Turbay Quintero Award, one of Colombia's most prestigious honors recognizing life, work, and legacy. The award was presented at the Palacio del Congreso Nacional de Colombia for her impactful career as a results coach, international speaker, and author of "Matanga." She serves on the Construction Management Association of America board and dedicates time to service organizations like Habitat for Humanity and the Center for Independent Living.
Ms. Estevez-Losada believes in using her coaching firm to help new professionals entering her field, particularly those coming into the U.S. from other nations.
