Trane Employee Q&A for publication May 19

For “Future Plans”

  1. What’s to prevent Ingersoll Rand from hiring people and then firing employees for “performance issues” to avoid paying the promised Trane severance?

The following response is from Robert C. Butler, Vice President Global Compensation & Benefits at Ingersoll Rand: One of Ingersoll Rand’s core institutional values is Integrity, which among other things, requires unequivocal adherence to honesty. Therefore, we would not invent a false performance issue to avoid paying Trane severance. Besides, doing so would undermine Ingersoll Rand’s credibility and create a distraction from the primary task of combining two great companies into the leading enterprise for worldwide climate control systems and services.

  2. What is the current schedule for Ingersoll Rand’s payroll processing? Ingersoll Rand has multiple payroll schedules, which include weekly, semi-monthly and monthly. We will not consolidate payroll cycles as of the closing, but will do so over time as part of the integration process.

  3. What are the medical/dental/vision benefits going to cost employees after the completion of the acquisition? There will be no immediate changes immediately following the closing of the acquisition. As always, we will continue to evaluate our programs as part of ongoing operations. In addition, as part of the benefits integration-planning process, all programs will be evaluated and changes will be communicated in advance.

  4. Can a person collect unemployment benefits while collecting severance? This answer varies by state, but many states will allow you to collect unemployment at the same time you are receiving severance. Check with your local unemployment office for specific guidance.
