Charles Schwab Congratulates Daniel Berger as Champion of the 2020 Charles Schwab Challenge

Charles Schwab is honored to congratulate Daniel Berger on his victory at the 2020 Charles Schwab Challenge. With his win, Berger captured the iconic Leonard Trophy and will have his name etched in stone on the Wall of Champions at Colonial Country Club. The victory, and the tournament, marked the PGA TOUR’s successful return to competition after a three month pause and a poignant next chapter for the storied event in Fort Worth.

In light of the unprecedented times in which the 2020 Charles Schwab Challenge was played, Schwab refocused its efforts as title sponsor to help extend the tournament’s impact in the community and reinforce the firm’s unwavering commitment to its fans, the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, and all those affected by the coronavirus pandemic. “Rise to the Challenge,” the new charitable platform launched by Schwab on June 8, was developed to support the PGA TOUR’s COVID-19 Relief Fund and the 33 local organizations that the tournament’s Birdies for Charity program helps benefit.

“Though the 2020 Charles Schwab Challenge understandably operated differently than originally planned, it was a true privilege to serve as its title sponsor – this year more than ever,” said Jonathan Craig, senior executive vice president, Investor Services & Marketing at Charles Schwab. “We were honored to help continue golf’s great tradition at Colonial and support this important milestone for the game and for the country. We are also proud of developing a new charitable program with ‘Rise to the Challenge’ to connect fans with the tournament, while also helping raise funds for local and national charities.”

Fans and supporters entered the Rise to the Challenge raffle with the hopes of bringing home one of a range of prizes including autographed memorabilia from some of the game’s biggest stars along with unique once-in-a-lifetime golf experiences – more than 350 prizes were donated for the fundraiser.

Charles Schwab & Co. signed on as title sponsor of the PGA TOUR’s Fort Worth Invitational at Colonial Country Club in 2018. Already a major sponsor of the PGA TOUR and PGA TOUR Champions, the firm’s four-year agreement marked its first-ever title sponsorship of a PGA TOUR event. Schwab continues to grow rapidly in the Metroplex where its new 70-acre campus in Westlake will eventually become home to the firm’s corporate headquarters.

About the Charles Schwab Challenge

As the Official Investment Firm of the PGA TOUR® and PGA TOUR Champions since 1997, Charles Schwab expanded its golf presence by assuming title sponsorship of the PGA TOUR’s annual tournament at Colonial Country Club beginning in 2019. The four-year agreement will run through 2022. The Charles Schwab Challenge is one of the country’s premier and longest-running PGA TOUR events, serving as a showcase for the game’s best players. The Wall of Champions at Colonial Country Club is populated by many of the game’s greatest names, with Fort Worth native and Colonial member Ben Hogan chief among them as the tournament’s only five-time champion, starting with the first two editions of the tournament in 1946-47.
