In July of 2018, Scherrer Construction Inc. completed two community aquatic centers for the areas of Burlington and Racine County. July of 2020 marks the second anniversary of the centers.
While the pandemic has changed how the community centers will likely operate, the fact that people can still enjoy the amenities in each county speaks volumes.
A Reminder of the Past
The original aquatic center was over 50 years old when the City of Burlington and Scherrer Construction partnered together to create the $5.4 million new facility. The new center includes a six-lane lap pool, three water slides, diving boards, and a rock-climbing wall. The community center also has an activity pool with a play structure, zero-depth entry, and a current channel.
Racine County partnered with SC Johnson and Scherrer Construction to create a fantastic water center for the county’s residents. The $7.4 million facility has 15,000 square feet of water surface. There are water slides and spray pads. The building also has a rope course and a pool with a zero-depth entry. The community center has a 4,800 square-foot pool building with enclosed changing rooms, a concession stand, and a shaded lounge area.
The construction company worked in conjunction with Ayres Associates as the architect for both aquatic projects. Scherrer is a contractor who commits to building long-lasting relationships with clients across Wisconsin. The clients include companies and communities in Milwaukee, Madison, Green Bay, Kenosha, and more.
Each aquatic center has a Scherrer Cares Buddy Bench donated by Scherrer construction for those attending to sit and enjoy through the community center’s open months.
