Edison International Awards 30 High School Seniors $1.2 Million in Scholarships

Edison International, the parent company of Southern California Edison, has announced the names of 30 high school seniors awarded $1.2 million in scholarships to support their dreams to make a difference in the world through the study of science, technology, engineering or math — known as STEM.

Each Edison Scholar will receive $40,000 — paid over four years — to further their academic pursuit of STEM fields at a four-year accredited college or university.

The 2018 Edison Scholars are: Sandra Amezcua Rocha, South El Monte H.S.; Travis Caldwell, Oak Hills H.S.; Jennifer Carrillo, Oxnard H.S.; Fu-Tung “Irisa” Chang, Cerritos H.S.; Peter Chea, Cerritos H.S.; Fernanda Corona, Paramount H.S.; Hayley Fernandes, Mission Oak H.S., Tulare; Alexandra Gomez, Magnolia Science Academy, Santa Ana; Justin Hogenauer, Gretchen A. Whitney H.S., Cerritos; Winnie Huang, Henry J. Kaiser H.S., Fontana; Shavonna Jackson, California Academy of Mathematics and Science, Carson; Shanni Lam, Colony H.S., Ontario; Elliot Larson, Redwood H.S., Visalia; Connie Lee, El Monte H.S.; Lesly Leon, Lynwood H.S.; Alyssa Liu, Gabrielino H.S., San Gabriel; Abieiden “Abi” Lopez, Lynwood H.S.; Mariam Lora, West Covina H.S.; Aaron Martinez, South Gate H.S.; Deema Nasla, Oak Hills H.S.; Alexandra Ortega, Fontana H.S.; Joshua Porter, Mission Oak H.S., Tulare; Joshua Rodriguez, Ruben S.
