Mercer Expands When Women Thrive Platform to Focus on the Media and Entertainment Industry

Mercer, a global consulting leader in advancing health, wealth, and career, and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Marsh & McLennan Companies, Inc. (NYSE:MMC), has launched a new initiative, When Women Thrive in Media and Entertainment. Focusing specifically on the unique needs of women in film, television, and media and making the most of their ability to facilitate change broadly, this initiative emphasizes equal representation and advancement of women at every level throughout the industry.

“Hollywood and its bold leaders have the ability to set an example for all industries,” said Pam Jeffords, Partner with Mercer. “Women and girls around the world pay attention to what is said and done in film and television. By amplifying women’s voices — in front of the camera, behind the camera, and behind the scenes — we’re sending a powerful message about the changes needed to break the gender-parity impasse.”

Along with its When Women Thrive in Media and Entertainment initiative, Mercer was recently named the official knowledge partner for ReFrame, an industry-wide partnership to further gender parity at every level in film, TV, and media, launched by Women In Film and Sundance Institute together with over 50 Hollywood leaders and influencers. With Mercer’s support and expertise, ReFrame’s voice, visibility, and commitment to gender parity will further important conversations needed to help remove barriers for women throughout the media and entertainment industry.

“We’re thankful for Mercer’s collaboration as they join the remarkable team of ambassadors working to break down barriers and encourage gender equality,” said ReFrame co-founders, Cathy Schulman, Board President, Women In Film. Keri Putnam, Sundance Institute Director reinforced this by saying, “With Mercer’s help, we can come together as an industry to amplify our voices, drive equitable representation and create diverse workplaces where women are given the opportunity to thrive."

Mercer’s When Women Thrive in Media and Entertainment initiative will launch on March 8th, International Women’s Day, at an empowering event in Los Angeles that brings together more than 50 Hollywood insiders dedicated to initiating change for women in the industry.

Founded in 2014, Mercer’s When Women Thrive research and consulting platform helps organizations worldwide increase their representation and advancement of women in business by focusing on their total wellbeing, specifically their careers, health, safety, and financial wellness.
