Zetz Family Pancreatic Cancer Research Foundation’s 2015 Gala to benefit Johns Hopkins Medicine with DNA collection
MURRIETA, Calif. - Nov. 3, 2015 - PRLog -- The night of the Gala is almost upon us and the Zetz Family Pancreatic Cancer Research Foundation is pleased and humbled by the generosity of those who will join us in supporting our efforts to raise funds for DNA collection for Johns Hopkins Medicine and the National Familial Pancreatic Tumor Registry.

Where Beauty and Couture Design Meet will have available for auction one of a kind looks from Joshua Christensen, Henry Picado and Jaime Stephens. Joshua Christensen, who gained notoriety on season 9 of Project Runway, continued his education and graduated from the masters program at FIDM in Los Angeles. Josh has since worked with many incredible clients and has created a private collection every season, showcasing them around the country at fashion weeks from LA to NY. Henry Picado is the current Creative Director for the 30-year-old JS Collections and has repositioned and revitalized the brand since his start there in 2011. During Henry’s career he has had the pleasure of designing for the House of Mackie and Demetrios Int. These led to jobs designing for TV shows and celebrity clients including Lauren Conrad, Stephanie Pratt, Anna Lynn McCord, Carrie Ann Inaba, Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Soledad O’Brien, and Dayana Mendoza (Miss Universe 2008). Jaime Stephens is Southern California’s premier wedding gown designer. In 1995 she launched her custom bridal gown line, ElyseReuben, followed by a casual line, Molly’s Clothing. In 2014 Jaime launched Jaime Elyse Couture and recently showed at the 2015 runways for LA Fashion Week, New York Fashion Week and the Cannes Fashion Festival.

Those in attendance will have the opportunity to hear special guest speaker Dr. Alexis Norris, she received her PhD in Cellular and Molecular Medicine from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. She conducted her thesis work on familial pancreatic cancer in the lab of James R. Eshleman, MD, and PhD. In her thesis research, Dr. Alexis Norris characterized the genomic landscape of familial pancreatic cancer, using samples from the NFPTR at Johns Hopkins. Dr. Norris will speak about her research and about how more DNA collection will propel her work forward.

In addition to the auctions and guest speaker, supporters will enjoy entertainment from The Zippers and Virgil Gibson of The Platters and will be joined by a special group of alumni NFL Players. The presence of these alumni NFL players is sure to be bring attention to our work and we are grateful for Byron Chamberlain, Isaac Curtis and Kenneth “Pete” Shaw for their support. Byron Daniel Chamberlain is a former American football tight end in the National Football League. He played professionally for the Denver Broncos, Minnesota Vikings, and the Washington Redskins. Chamberlain won back-to-back Super Bowl Championships as a member of the Denver Broncos (Super Bowls XXXII & XXXIII). He was voted to the 2002 Pro Bowl while with the Vikings. Isaac Fisher Curtis is a former professional American football wide receiver that played his entire National Football League career with the Cincinnati Bengals (1973–1984). In 1973 in his first year, the Bengals, they won the Central Division and faced the eventual Super Bowl Champions, the Miami Dolphins. "The Isaac Curtis Rule", named after Isaac Curtis because he had world-class speed and there weren't defensive backs that could keep up with Curtis and so his opponents would double and sometimes even triple cover him. Kenneth Edward "Pete" Shaw is a former American football safety who played eight seasons in the National Football League for the San Diego Chargers and the New York Giants. He played college football at Northwestern University and was drafted in the sixth round of the 1977 NFL Draft. Shaw is also the younger brother of legendary Jazz trumpeter, Woody Shaw.
