Strained Greek talks send markets tumbling

The markets opened lower with the Dow tumbling 109 points to 17,929 over strained Greek debt negotiations. Nasdaq dropped 22 points to 5,059.

On the upside

ITT Educational Services (NYSE: ESI) reported sharply higher first quarter earnings.

Sunesis Pharmaceuticals (Nasdaq: SNSS) reported additional upbeat data from the VALOR trial of vosaroxin and cytarabine to treat relapsed or refractory acute myeloid leukemia.

Shares of Sky-mobi (Nasdaq: MOBI) continued climbing.
 
On the downside

LeapFrog (NYSE: LF) widened fourth quarter losses more than expected as revenue fell.

The Food and Drug Administration suggested that AVEO (Nasdaq: AVEO) develop its biomarker assay before beginning a phase 3 study of tivozanib to treat low colorectal cancer.

Investors locked in profits on Axovant Sciences (NYSE: AXON).
 
In the broad market, declining issues outpaced advancers by a margin of more than 5 to 2 on the NYSE and by nearly 2 to 1 on Nasdaq. The broader S&P 500 fell 11 points to 2097. Bitcoin added $1 to $231.
