SEC to heighten scrutiny of trading systems

Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Mary Schapiro said on Tuesday that the agency will seek public comment on the issue of co-location, a practice where some exchanges allow favored firms to place their trading systems in such a way as to shorten the time it takes to execute a trade.
