CIO Council of South Florida Welcomes New Leadership: Joe Hernandez as President and Tamecka McKay as Vice President

CIO Council of South Florida: The Premier Networking and Knowledge-Sharing Platform for IT Leaders, Continues to Foster Innovation and Drive Technological Growth in South Florida with New Transformative Leadership

The CIO Council of South Florida is pleased to announce the appointment of Joe Hernandez, Vice President of Technology at FEAM Aero, as President and Tamecka McKay, Chief Information Officer of the City of Fort Lauderdale, as Vice President, effective February 17, 2025. Their leadership will drive the Council’s mission to advance technology and innovation across South Florida.

Joe Hernandez brings a wealth of experience in technology leadership, digital transformation, and strategic IT initiatives. With a distinguished career spanning multiple industries, Joe has been a driving force in leveraging technology to create business value and enhance organizational efficiencies. As President, he aims to expand the Council’s impact, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing among technology leaders to address the evolving challenges in today’s digital landscape, while also engaging with the local community and students to inspire the next generation of technology professionals. He is a frequent speaker at various national and international conferences and serves as an advisory board member for Florida International University, contributing to the development of future IT leaders.

Joining him in leadership, Ms. Tamecka McKay steps into the role of Vice President with a proven track record of success in IT governance, cybersecurity, and enterprise technology management. Her expertise and dedication to empowering technology professionals will further strengthen the Council’s mission to support CIOs and IT executives in their continuous pursuit of excellence. She is a frequent speaker at various national conferences and 2024 South Florida ORBIE award winner. She is also pursuing her PHD.

Sanjay would also like to thank Tony Casciotta, who served as the President for the last three years and elevated the platform during the challenging period of COVID-19. Tony will join the Board of Trustees in the role of Past President.
