Ben Zhou, co-founder and CEO of Bybit, the third most visited crypto exchange in the world, teamed up with Olly Hughes, Oracle Red Bull Racing's Chief Marketing Officer, to discuss how the two leaders in their respective fields continue to drive and evolve their recently announced partnership.
Speaking at 'All That Matters', Asia's prime event for music, sports, gaming and digital entertainment sectors, both leaders outlined the core values that brought them together, and their ambitions for the partnership and their communities.
Zhou noted how "Oracle Red Bull Racing pushes the limits of technology and innovation — which epitomises the spirit of crypto."
Hughes added: "We had many suitors, so we’re very fortunate to be in a position where we could choose the partner we really wanted. We chose Bybit because they shared the same spirit as us and the same passion for education and innovation."
Both speakers stressed how a young audience and fanbase were helping ensure they both stayed true to pushing the limits and disrupting the status quo. That included how the latest innovations in crypto were giving fans new ways to engage with their favourite sports teams.
They also reaffirmed their excitement, enthusiasm, and ambition for NFTs. Zhou stressed how NFTs were a key pillar of web3 — where web users create, own, and distribute their own content. In terms of how they could be used in the partnership, he explained. "NFTs offer the next level experience, engagement, and potential to become the ultimate loyalty asset," with the ability to provide a “true picture of their commitment and involvement in the sport and the team."
For Oracle Red Bull Racing, Hughes explained how "NFTs help deliver another layer of tailored experience for our fans. Greater engagement generates greater levels of access and exclusivity. It's an opportunity to really feel part of something."
The interaction also touched on something core to both camps, safety and security. Oracle Red Bull Racing stressed how safety and security was not only paramount in their on-track business, but also important in how they interact with fans, to help ensure innovation continued to be exhilarating, yet safe.
The sentiments were echoed by Bybit, with Zhou confirming, "Risk management was essential to providing a safe and secure environment for fans, without removing the ability to break boundaries."
The discussion ended with both speakers praising the strength and commitment of their respective communities. Hughes revealed, the Oracle Red Bull Racing fan base was around seven years younger than the sports' average age. "Their fire and passion keep us true." A sentiment echoed by Zhou. "We always listen, care, and improve. It's iteration combined with innovation."
