-- Newman University announced its accelerated Master's program that enables adults with bachelor's degrees to transition into elementary teaching careers in just 12 months. The MSED-Methods and Strategies for Teaching (MST) program provides a direct pathway for career-changers to enter the education field in Kansas with full preparation and credentials.

The program offers participants a temporary teaching license, allowing them to teach while completing their master's degree. This approach combines practical classroom experience with advanced educational training, resulting in both a master's degree and full teaching license upon completion.

Jessica Bird, Dean of Newman's School of Education, emphasized the meaningful nature of teaching careers. "For many people, teaching isn't just about sharing knowledge; it's about making a difference in children's lives. It's about being a beacon of light, a mentor, and a source of motivation," Bird stated.

The MST program specifically addresses the growing demand for qualified teachers in Kansas, offering career-changers job security along with personal fulfillment. "Teaching is more than just a job; it's a vocation," Bird explained, highlighting how the profession allows individuals to shape future generations.

Designed for working adults, the program accommodates existing responsibilities through flexible scheduling options. Students receive mentorship throughout the program and join a community of fellow career-changers, creating a supportive learning environment.

Prospective students need only a bachelor's degree in any field to apply, with no prior teaching experience required. The program provides the Limited Elementary Apprentice License, enabling immediate classroom teaching while completing graduate studies.

The high demand for qualified elementary educators in Kansas has resulted in nearly 100% job placement for program graduates, who gain skills applicable to various education-related careers. Financial assistance options, including scholarships and payment plans, are available to eligible students.
