The Fitness App Making Accountability Personal & Paying People to Move

RxRevival has found a way to fit accountability in everyone’s pockets through an app that rewards people for the way they move.

Everyone knows that fitness is one of the most important factors needed for a healthy lifestyle. But that knowledge does not make working out any easier. For years, people have relied on motivation and willpower to inspire them to take their fitness seriously. But as research has shown, these two factors are fleeting and do not help in the long term. However, one of the things that have been proven to help people overcome their apathy towards fitness is having an accountability partner. This is one fact that the folks at RxRevival know and are using to help others achieve their fitness goals.

RxRevival is a new fitness app that has just launched for users on Apple’s ecosystem. It comes with inbuilt exercises that can be performed at home with minimal equipment. The app operates on the premise of using accountability and challenges to motivate people to move throughout the day. All that is required for anyone to join in the challenge are setting the required minimum goals on your apple watch, closing all three rings and, daily check-ins on the app.

To make the challenge more exciting, each participant places a bet of $20 to join the challenge. However, the participant can either win their money back, or split the pot and earn more, if they complete 21 out of 28 days of the challenge. The money that goes into the pot is an extra dose of accountability because no one truly likes to lose their own money. If everyone completes the challenge, then at minimum the participant receives their $20 back. However, the most recent challenge winners have earned $36 (that’s an extra $16 on top of their original $20 buy in – just for moving more).

Jacob Johnson and Jacob Frederick are the brains behind the RxRevival project. The two co-founders came up with the idea of “prescribing movement as a way to revive the body.” This idea is hinged on their combined decades of experience in the fitness industry. As they put it, the most common phrase they would hear is “I know what to do, I just don’t do it.” This common mindset gave them the inspiration to create an accountability app “to help people move more, move more consistently, and to help find joy in movement.” RxRevival is the end product of that idea.

RxRevival makes it possible for people to join in the app’s official challenges. But if that is not to one’s liking, they have the option of creating a private challenge with family and friends. Users of the app will also be happy to know that a portion of all proceeds from challenge fees is donated to the non-profit organization, every kid sports.

Currently, the RxRevival challenge is only compatible with iOS and Apple Watch. Interested persons are advised to download the app on their iPhone, create an account, and join or create a challenge.
