Edward W. Houy, Jr. (October 3, 1931 – March 24, 1998) was a distinguished author whose life was marked by a remarkable journey of service and creativity. Born in San Antonio, Texas, Houy's career took him from the military halls of the U.S. Army, where he served as a highly decorated Colonel in the Quartermaster Corps, to the mayoral office of Sunrise Beach Village, Texas.
After an illustrious 22-year military career, which included two tours of duty in Vietnam, Ed retired in 1975 to Sunrise Beach with his beloved wife, Annerose Gastl Houy. A man of many talents, he not only served as mayor for an impressive 16 years but also engaged passionately in diverse pursuits, including book writing, genealogy, woodworking, fishing, and exploring new horizons through travel.
The transition from the bustling environment of Washington, D.C., to the tranquility of Sunrise Beach marked a pivotal chapter in Ed's life. In the quietude of his new surroundings, he discovered a love for crafting imaginative worlds through science fiction.
