Takesha Williams Host of CanTV Show “Are You Ready to Work” Celebrating Juneteenth US Federal Holiday

By: Get News

Juneteenth is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. Juneteenth marks the anniversary of the announcement of General Order No. 3 by Union Army general Gordon Granger on June 19, 1865, proclaiming freedom for enslaved people in Texas. Wikipedia

Takesha Marcella Williams remembers and shares her thoughts about this National holiday, “It was horrible what our ancestors went through, but they made it possible for us to be free today and don’t have to go through slavery.”

Additionally, Takesha dedicates a show at Can Tv, (Chicago Access Corporation- 1309 S. Wood St, Chicago, IL) to Takesha Williams sister from her father’s side, Latanya Harris and a close friend who was like a sister, Nicole Reed. Takesha remembers her friends and family, “Nicole Reed died from an asthma attack, Takesha’s sister Latanya Harris died from drugs and prostitution. Latanya’s mother & Takesha’s mother were her dad’s prostitutes. Latonya’s mom died when she was a baby. Latonya’s mom was killed in a fire. Takesha’s mom is still living. Latonya Harris followed her mother’s footsteps but had a singing voice as an angel. Takesha said she loved the way Latanya sang, now she’s dead. Nicole Reed was classy and had her priorities straight. Takesha’s message in the show saying that just because their mother’s & their dad made some bad choices in their lives, doesn’t mean that their children have to do the same.”

The show studio was located on Green St, Chicago, IL. In November, 2009, and has aired successfully for 11 years.
