University of Phoenix National Workforce Director Named Chairwoman of the Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance Board of Directors

Lauri Perdue brings more than two decades of experience in workforce development and higher education to the role

University of Phoenix is pleased to announce that National Workforce Director Lauri Perdue has been appointed Chairwoman for the Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance (LVGEA) Board of Directors following her tenure as vice chair since January 2023. With more than 25 years of experience in higher education and workforce development, Perdue’s leadership will play a key role in advancing LVGEA’s mission to drive economic growth and diversification in Southern Nevada.

“I am excited to step into the role of Chair for the LVGEA Board of Directors for the next two years," Perdue shared. "Our priorities will include conducting a nationwide search for a new CEO, boosting board participation and effectiveness, aligning our strategic goals, championing regional projects, and setting the stage for the organization's future success."

Perdue brings a wealth of experience in higher education, workforce development, consulting, and organizational leadership to the role. At University of Phoenix, she collaborates with companies nationwide to design programs that support student career pathways and meet workforce needs. Her dedication to workforce development aligns closely with LVGEA’s mission to strengthen the region’s economy by cultivating talent pipelines and fostering business collaboration.

“Lauri’s proven leadership in workforce development, community engagement, and higher education positions her perfectly to lead our board at this critical time,” said Betsy Fretwell, interim CEO of LVGEA. “Her deep understanding of creating career pathways and advancing community collaboration will help us tackle some of the region’s most pressing challenges. Under her guidance, we are confident that LVGEA will continue to chart a path toward sustainable growth and innovation.”

Perdue began her career at the University of Phoenix as Director of Enrollment, a role she held for eleven years before pursuing other career experiences. She returned in 2020 to serve as Campus and Academic Director in Las Vegas, Nevada, where she ensured a high-quality education experience for students, spearheaded workforce development and higher education consulting, provided leadership and oversight in campus operations, and led outreach and engagement with alumni and community leaders.

Alongside a diverse group of public and private sector leaders that are passionate about creating a brighter future for all Southern Nevadans, Perdue and members of the LVGEA Board will focus on an ambitious community and economic development strategy designed to strengthen the region, create new jobs and spur capital investment. With more than 50 members, the Board of Directors for LVGEA makes up the largest board of economic development leaders in Nevada.
