Modern America Campgrounds Acquires Thomas Point Beach & Campground

Modern America Campgrounds, the largest RV park owner in the Northeast, today announced its acquisition of Thomas Point Beach & Campground in Brunswick, ME. This marks the company’s 28th park acquisition in the last 24 months, further solidifying its position as a leader in the outdoor hospitality industry.

Thomas Point Beach was started in 1956 by Harry and Marion Crooker. The 80-acre Oceanside Park was owned and operated by the family up until the sale of the property. Modern America was selected to purchase the property because they intend to carry on the legacy of Mr. and Mrs. Crooker. Modern America plans to upgrade the property to today’s standards and intends to have the park open for visitors by mid-May of 2025.

“We are thrilled to welcome Thomas Point Beach to the Modern America Campgrounds family,” said Hunter Vazza. “It is an amazing property, and this acquisition aligns with our strategic growth plan and allows us to offer even more diverse camping options to our guests.”

Modern America Campgrounds has recently introduced several innovative programs to enhance the camping experience for its valued seasonal members and transient guests. Seasonal pass members now enjoy the added benefit of accessing other Modern America Campgrounds free of charge on a limited basis, expanding their camping options and fostering a sense of community among campers.

“We encourage our seasonal members to visit our other parks,” said Vazza. “We have some amazing properties, Bar Harbor Campground has an elevated 270-degree ocean view of the Atlantic, Eastern Slope has 1 mile of frontage on the Saco River in Conway, NH., and Camping on the Battenkill has 3/4 mile of frontage on the Battenkill River in Arlington, VT.” Vazza went on to say, “There isn’t another park owner in the Northeast that allows their seasonal member campers complimentary access to 28 parks. The value is there for our seasonal campers and it’s what separates us from other parks.”

Additionally, the company has launched the Freedom Trail Pass, granting campers access to all Modern America Campgrounds with minimal restrictions during peak season. This pass offers unparalleled flexibility and convenience for campers seeking to explore the diverse range of destinations within the Modern America Campgrounds network.

With the acquisition of Thomas Point Beach, Modern America Campgrounds is set to expand its portfolio to 33 parks by the beginning of next season, with five additional acquisitions in the pipeline. This growth trajectory underscores the company’s commitment to providing exceptional camping experiences across the Northeast.

Looking ahead to the 2025 season, Modern America Campgrounds plans to introduce a Loyalty Rewards Program designed to reward transient campers with attractive pricing and free stays. This program aims to recognize and appreciate the loyalty of its guests, further enhancing their camping experience.
