The partnership comes only months after Saint-Gobain announced its global Grow and Impact strategy, which includes prioritizing corporate social responsibility and volunteerism in communities where the company does business. The company will donate more than $100,000 of CertainTeed interior building materials solutions and cash to Habitat for Humanity projects across Canada.
“We believe all Canadians should have access to housing that is both affordable and built with sustainably-minded materials. Our company is committed to making the world a better home- and we look forward to working with Habitat for Humanity Canada to provide housing opportunities to our neighbours,” said Richard Juggery, CEO of Saint-Gobain and CertainTeed Canada. “We are proud of our colleagues whose voices inspired the creation of the Habitat Canada partnership. Their commitment and dedication to the success of this partnership is an inspiration to us all.”
As part of this partnership, some of CertainTeed’s donations and activities have included:
- June 9, 2022, Saint-Gobain colleagues visited students at M.M. Robinson High School in Burlington, ON who is constructing a Habitat Tiny Home that will be used as transitional and emergency housing for an Indigenous community in the Bruce Penninsula. These students gained unique and invaluable experience in all components of the building process including hands-on experience installing CertainTeed solutions.
- In June 2022, 12 CertainTeed colleagues volunteered a total of 84 hours working side by side with Habitat for Humanity Southern Alberta, on a home build in Calgary, AB.
- In 2022 Saint-Gobain looks forward to supporting Habitat builds with an emphasis on sustainability initiatives that will reduce energy costs for future Habitat homeowners and improve energy efficiencies in local builds.
“Habitat for Humanity Canada is thrilled to embark on a new national partnership with Saint-Gobain and CertainTeed Canada,” said Julia Deans, President and CEO of Habitat for Humanity Canada. “The company’s support will ensure that local Habitats are building with high-quality materials improving the sustainability and affordability of our homes for future Habitat homeowners. We welcome Saint-Gobain and CertainTeed to the Habitat family and look forward to many years of partnership.”
