Addition of FirstView positions AmerisourceBergen to meet the increased demand for patient support and healthcare solutions as waves of specialty products enter the market
AmerisourceBergen, a global healthcare company, bolstered its suite of manufacturer solutions through the addition of FirstView Financial (FirstView), a fintech solutions provider that delivers innovative digital payment processing services to support patient affordability and access programs, pharmacy and provider networks, and payors and plan administrators. FirstView enables AmerisourceBergen to provide more robust, integrated services, including an enhanced patient support offering designed to help patients gain access to, afford and stay on vital therapies.
Driven by the burgeoning pipeline of therapies, specialty pharmaceutical products are projected to account for nearly two-thirds of new product launches by 2023. As the number of specialty and rare disease products continues to increase, the demand for patient support services is expected to grow significantly by 2026. AmerisourceBergen adds FirstView’s copay program management and payment processing services to its existing portfolio of patient support and healthcare solutions, creating an enhanced and differentiated market offering that better supports the needs of manufacturers, healthcare providers and patients.
“Our leadership role with specialty product services allows us to continue to make investments to ensure we’re best positioned to help patients access their prescribed therapies,” said Robert Mauch, PhD, Executive Vice President and Group President of AmerisourceBergen. “With FirstView, we’ve broadened our portfolio of manufacturer services by adding tech-driven payment and processing solutions that can reduce barriers throughout the treatment journey. The new solutions, coupled with our existing patient-centric services, enable us to meet the evolving needs of our partners and the patients they serve.”
Founded in 2006, FirstView supports organizations across the pharmaceutical industry—from pharmaceutical manufacturers to hub providers and specialty pharmacies—by delivering seamless payment solutions that help partners manage and execute effective patient support programs. Powered by its omni-channel digital technology platform, ProXe360®, FirstView provides program administration and payment processing services, including real-time copay payments and claims adjudication services. The platform supports a broad range of payment options, including digital and mobile payment capabilities that increase convenience and expedite the payment process. Through its ProXeclaim® adjudication service, FirstView helps manufacturers implement and manage complex claims transactions in closed networks of specialty pharmacies and provides them with flexible solutions that can help patients and pharmacies navigate barriers that affect access.
The new solutions further enhance AmerisourceBergen’s existing suite of manufacturer services that are designed to improve patient access, affordability and adherence throughout the treatment journey. The broad range of services leverage advanced technology solutions to simplify the patient and provider experience, accelerate access to therapy, reduce financial burdens and empower patient engagement.
“In working with healthcare and pharmaceutical companies, our goal has always been to deliver a simple and seamless payment solution that helps to eliminate financial barriers and increase patient access and adherence to the medications they need,” said Bob Raffo, president and CEO of FirstView. “We’re excited to combine our industry leading technology platform with AmerisourceBergen’s portfolio of services and capabilities to expand our reach in the specialty pharmaceutical and provider space and further advance our shared commitment of expanding patient access to critical therapies. As the healthcare landscape evolves, we will continue to adapt our technology platform and introduce new, innovative healthcare-fintech solutions that increase convenience, transparency and control of digital payments and meet the needs of the customers we serve.”
