Human-Centered Security: Tracing Krishna's Journey from System Scans to Strategic Cyber Defense

PRINCETON, NJ / ACCESS Newswire / July 1, 2025 / In an increasingly digital and threat-prone world, Krishna's career journey-anchored in hands-on expertise and long-term vision-reflects the importance of resilience, adaptability, and purpose in cybersecurity. Raised and educated in India, Krishna's foundational years were marked not by shortcuts or quick wins, but by tireless curiosity and a passion for uncovering vulnerabilities that others overlooked.

"Security isn't just about stopping threats-it's about understanding systems, anticipating flaws, and designing trust into every layer," Krishna reflects.

That belief became the cornerstone of a journey spanning more than 13 years, from scanning enterprise networks to leading application security at one of the world's most respected financial data firms.

Early Curiosity and Ground-Level Practice

Krishna began his career in 2009 as a Security Engineer at ORIGIN ITFS. Here, he immersed himself in penetration testing using tools like Nessus, NMap, and Acunetix. While most were content running pre-defined scans, Krishna dove deeper-manually validating vulnerabilities, cross-analyzing infrastructure weaknesses, and contributing to security incident analysis.

"Every scan was a story waiting to be told. I saw beyond the numbers and began asking: What does this vulnerability mean for the business?" he shares.

This habit of zooming out-of connecting technical issues to business risk-became a defining trait in the years to come.

Expanding Horizons and Shaping Secure Development

From 2012 to 2018, Krishna held key roles at Six Sigma, TCS, TeckPros, and ITS Inc. In each position, he not only executed penetration tests but became a trusted guide for development teams navigating the nuances of secure coding. His experience with OWASP Top 10, PCI-DSS, and threat modeling allowed him to formalize test strategies, support code reviews, and mentor junior testers.

At Zetta Prime, Krishna stepped into a leadership role, aligning vulnerability management and patch workflows with business objectives. By 2018, he was at Wipro as a Lead Engineer, where he institutionalized SAST/DAST practices and drove automation in secure CI/CD pipelines-reducing vulnerability resolution time and increasing developer accountability.

"Security shifted from reactive to integrated. Our job was no longer just to test, but to empower engineers to build securely from the ground up," Krishna recalls.

Leadership at Scale: Defining the Future of Enterprise Security

In 2020, Krishna joined S&P Global as Associate Director of Application Security. Leading a 27-member global team, he now oversees dynamic and static testing operations, secure design practices, and risk governance across mission-critical platforms.

He has successfully embedded security into the development lifecycle-integrating tools like Fortify, WebInspect, and Veracode into DevSecOps pipelines. His leadership also spans REST API assessments, regulatory compliance mapping, and cross-functional training for secure code remediation.

"It's about more than fixing bugs. It's about creating systems where trust is native-where security enables innovation, not slows it down," he says.

Today, Krishna serves as both a technical strategist and a mentor, helping young security professionals transition from tactical execution to strategic influence.

Looking Ahead: Securing the Future, One Framework at a Time

As threats evolve and cloud-native systems proliferate, Krishna is focused on scalable frameworks that bridge legacy and modern architectures. He is passionate about closing the skills gap in cybersecurity and advocating for proactive, business-aligned defense strategies.

He continues to mentor professionals, contribute to security playbooks, and guide enterprises toward more mature and resilient security cultures.

"Security is no longer an afterthought. It's the foundation. And the next decade will belong to those who can secure at speed and scale-with clarity, empathy, and purpose," Krishna affirms.

From packet sniffers to enterprise policy makers, Krishna's remarkable journey proves that with discipline, empathy, and vision, security professionals can not only protect but shape the future.
