Although Wicked The Musical is sometimes billed as a prequel to the beloved 1939 movie 'The Wizard Of Oz' starring Judy Garland it is slightly more complex than that. The story of Wicked begins before Dorothy is transported by a tornado to the land of Oz along with her dog, Toto, and follows the fortunes of the 'wicked witch of the West', Elphaba during her time at Shiz University where she makes friends with the 'good witch' Glinda, who takes a shine to Elphaba, taking her under her wing. But after they discover that the corrupt government in Oz plans to remove free speech for all animals the pair fall out over a difference of opinion which forces Elphaba to go into hiding. The events that follow take place before, during, and after the familiar events from the 'Wizard Of Oz' with numerous twists and turns along the way that will have you riveted to the edge of your seat until the spectacular conclusion!
The popularity of this exceptional musical shows no sign of abating and tickets to Wicked remain in high demand throughout the year, however, the Apollo Victoria Theatre is one of the larger venues to pack out for 8 shows every week so by utilizing the many different price bands there are usually options that will suit regardless of budget.
