Eretz Cultural Center Hosts Inaugural Luncheon to Celebrate Community Heroes

Los Angeles, CA - March 11, 2024 - Eretz Cultural Center is proud to announce the launch of a new initiative aimed at fostering deeper community engagement and appreciation. Through monthly appreciation luncheons, Eretz Cultural Center seeks to recognize and celebrate the contributions of various groups and organizations that make our community vibrant and successful.

These gatherings offer a unique opportunity for the greater Los Angeles community to connect with Eretz Cultural Center, explore collaboration possibilities, and express heartfelt gratitude to individuals and organizations instrumental in our collective well-being.

Honouring Our Community Heroes:

The inaugural luncheon included distinguished representatives from the Los Angeles Police Department, the United States Army, and the Los Angeles Fire Department, whose unwavering dedication and commitment to keeping our community safe are deeply appreciated. These heroes not only attended the event but also took pictures with members of the community, further strengthening the bond between them. The community expressed their heartfelt appreciation for the dedication and sacrifices these individuals make to maintain public safety.

Deputy Chief Ruby Flores: A prominent figure within the LAPD since 1994, Deputy Chief Flores has held various leadership positions and championed diversity and inclusion efforts, becoming the department's first Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer. She also serves as President of the Los Angeles Women Police Officers and Associates and was recognized with the prestigious "Champion of Women Award" in 2022 for her achievements. Her dedication and leadership set a powerful example for aspiring female officers and contribute significantly to building a more inclusive and equitable LAPD.

Deputy Chief Jason Hing: With over 33 years of dedicated service, Deputy Chief Hing is the Commander of Operations Valley Bureau for the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD). He is known for his humility and unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of Los Angeles' diverse communities. His leadership ensures the LAFD remains at the forefront of emergency response and community service, providing vital support and protection to residents throughout the city.

Jacqueline Hamilton, Deputy Mayor of Neighborhood Services: Prior to her appointment, Ms. Hamilton served as Mayor Bass' Senior Advisor and Director of Neighborhood Services, overseeing six City departments. She continues to oversee these departments in her elevated role and maintains her work as a liaison with Jewish community members. Her extensive experience and dedication to public service contribute significantly to fostering a thriving and inclusive Los Angeles.

Mr. Amit Mekel:  The second most senior representative of the State of Israel in the Southwest United States, Mr. Mekel brings a wealth of experience to his role. Previously, he served as Deputy Director of the European International Division in Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, demonstrating his commitment to fostering international relations and collaboration. His presence at the luncheon signifies the strong and enduring partnership between Eretz Cultural Center and the State of Israel.

Deputy Chief Ruby Flores, Deputy Chief Jason Hing along Mr. Mekel, further enriched the event with insightful and inspiring speeches, highlighting the importance of collaboration and community spirit.

Recognizing Valuable Partnerships:

Eretz Cultural Center also wishes to extend its sincere appreciation to the following individuals and organizations:

Congressman Brad Sherman, who represents California's 30th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives. His district likely includes the Eretz Cultural Center. Elected officials often support community centers and religious institutions within their districts as a way of serving their constituents.

Councilmember Bob Blumenfield, who represents the 3rd District on the Los Angeles City Council, which may also include the Eretz Cultural Center location. Similarly, he likely supports Eretz Cultural Center as part of his role in serving his constituents.

Community Security Initiative (CSI), a non-profit organization that works to enhance security at Jewish institutions, often in partnership with law enforcement and government agencies. They likely support Eretz Cultural Center due to their shared mission of safeguarding Jewish communities.

Assemblymember Jesse Gabriel, who represents the 45th District in the California State Assembly. Their district may include the Eretz Cultural Center Cultural Center's location. Supporting cultural centers aligns with promoting diversity, inclusion, and a sense of community within the city or district.

Department of Transportation, which could refer to either the federal Department of Transportation or the Los Angeles Department of Transportation. They might be involved with the center by providing funding for infrastructure improvements or assisting with traffic management during events.

Mayor Karen Bass, the current Mayor of Los Angeles. She has a general role in supporting the city's diverse communities and organizations, including Eretz Cultural Center.
