Community Trust Bancorp, Inc. announced in a press release dated December 15, 2008 that it has received preliminary approval from the U. S. Department of Treasury to receive additional capital by participating in the Treasury’s Capital Purchase Program.  A copy of this press release is being furnished to the Securities and Exchange Commission pursuant to Item 8.01 of Form 8-K and is attached hereto as Exhibit 99.1.  The information in this Form 8-K and in Exhibit 99.1 attached hereto shall not be deemed filed for purposes of Section 18 of the Securities Act of 1934, nor shall it be deemed incorporated by reference in any filing under the Securities Act of 1933, except as shall be expressly set forth by specific reference.
