Commission File No. 001-8444

This week I and much of the Flight Service HDQ staff spent time in Phoenix presenting the gap analysis information we had been working on to a steering committee comprised of both American and US Airways team members. You might remember a few updates ago, I mentioned that we had been working on the analysis to try and determine the similarities around policies, procedures, and systems, as well as the differences – known as gaps. The team then identified the interdependencies which are how different departments or units within an organization depend on the performance or action of others. Finally, after considering all the information above, the team made preliminary recommendations to the steering committee on ways to close the gap, or differences, we might have. I have to thank the American Flight Service team and their counterparts at US Airways for the hard work and amazing detail that went into the analysis.

Also this week, Bankruptcy Court Judge Sean Lane approved the Disclosure Statement filed in connection with American’s proposed Plan of Reorganization, also known as the POR or the Plan, successfully completing another step in our restructuring process.

The Disclosure Statement is a key document which describes our business, the Plan of Reorganization and other matters relevant to the decision of whether to vote to accept our Plan. Judge Lane’s determination that the Disclosure Statement provides adequate information enables American to begin shortly to solicit votes on the Plan from creditors and shareholders.

On Wednesday, a new Arrivals newsletter was distributed which contained excellent information about where we are in the merger process and next steps. Arrivals has news updates, articles, fast facts and employee profiles to help our people get to know each other a bit better before we join to become the new American. If you haven’t already, I encourage you to take a look at it by accessing your @aa.com email or by accessing it via new Jetnet, clicking on Merger, then Arrivals Newsletters.

Speaking of Arrivals, I wanted to be sure you are aware that there’s a new survey available to you so you can provide feedback about our joint merger newsletter. Your thoughts are important to us, so I’d encourage you to take a few moments to provide your feedback by clicking here or by going to the Merger page in new Jetnet before the survey closes on June 25.

That’s it for this week’s merger update, thanks for checking in.

Sincerely,

Lauri
