          Chief Information Officer of Kookmin Bank is Newly Appointed

On August 1, 2003, Kookmin Bank has announced the appointment of Mr. Jeong
Jin-Baek as a new Chief Information Officer ("CIO") for its Information
Technology Division.

He joined former Kookmin Bank in 1980, and his recent responsibilities were
general manager of Management Information Team, Deposit Development Team and IT
Development Team of Kookmin Bank.

Mr. Jeong received a B.A. in Business Administration from Jeon Ju University.
